About

Finding the signal in growth marketing

Marketing Signal is an independent editorial publication about growth marketing and acquisition channels. We exist because most marketing content is written to rank, not to be used. Practitioners are drowning in listicles that restate platform documentation, while the decisions that actually matter — how to structure an ad account, when to trust a lift test, whether a content refresh is worth the hours — get almost no serious coverage.

Every article here is written for someone who has to make a decision on Monday. That means real numbers, real trade-offs, and an honest account of what we do not know. When a tactic only works at a certain spend level, in a certain market, or with a certain margin structure, we say so.

What we cover

Five sections: growth marketing, performance advertising, SEO and content, email and lifecycle, and data and attribution. Those are the places where most B2C and B2B budgets actually go, and where the gap between folklore and evidence is widest. We prefer durable mechanics over platform news. A story about how incrementality testing works will still be useful in three years; a story about this quarter's ad platform UI change will not.

How we work

Articles are researched from primary sources: platform documentation, published experiments, academic work on media measurement, and the operating experience of people who run budgets. Where we cite a benchmark, we describe the conditions it came from. Benchmarks are context, not targets — a 2% conversion rate is excellent in one category and alarming in another.

We do not publish sponsored articles disguised as editorial. If a vendor ever contributes to a piece, that relationship is disclosed in the article itself.

How the site makes money

Marketing Signal is funded by display advertising and, in some articles, affiliate links. Display ads are served programmatically; we do not control which specific advertisers appear, and their presence is not an endorsement. Where we link to a tool through an affiliate programme, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships never determine whether a tool is covered, how it is rated, or whether criticism is published. If a product we earn from is the wrong choice for a given job, the article will say that.

We also plan to offer a sponsored newsletter placement in future. It will be labelled as such in every issue where it appears.

Corrections policy

We correct errors quickly and visibly. Factual mistakes — wrong figures, misquoted sources, broken methodology — are fixed in the article and noted at the foot of the page with the date and a description of what changed. Minor edits such as typos and clarity rewrites are made without a note. We do not silently delete published articles; if a piece is retracted, the URL stays live with an explanation.

If you spot something wrong, tell us through the contact page. Corrections requests from readers are read by an editor, not a bot, and we aim to respond within three working days.

Not professional advice

Everything published here is general editorial information about marketing practice. It is not financial, legal, tax or professional advice, and it is not a guarantee of results. Marketing outcomes depend on your offer, market, margins and execution. Test before you scale.
